Whole blood collection: Blood is collected using sodium heparin, EDTA-K2 or sodium citrate anticoagulation tubes, and the collected blood sample is added and shaken well and set aside.
Samples should not be frozen and should be tested as soon as possible after collection. If the test cannot be completed within 12 hours, it should be stored at 2°C to 8°C for no more than 2 days.

Introduction

 

The NT-proBNP Rapid Test Kit is primarily used to detect heart failure or congestive heart failure (CHF).For the quantification of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptides in human serum, plasma or whole blood. They are for professional use only. NT-proBNP or N-terminal prohormone type B natriuretic peptide is a prohormone containing 76 amino acids of N-terminal inactive protein that is activated to release brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). BNP is a hormone produced by the heart and released by cardiomyocytes in the heart chamber when ventricular blood volume increases. BNP decreases systemic vascular resistance and increases central venous pressure and urine sodium. Blood levels of BNP and NT-proBNP can be used to determine the prognosis of acute congestive heart failure and heart failure. Patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction tend to have higher levels of BNP and NT-proBNP. They are also associated with coronary artery disease and myocardial ischemia.
